What we collect
- No accounts or sign-ups. You can use every page and tool without giving us any personal details.
- No cookies from us. Our pages don't set cookies, and the site's code includes no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts.
- Tool answers stay in your browser. The Board Fitter and the calculators run on your device. Your answers are kept in the page address (so you can share or bookmark a result) and are not sent to us.
- Search runs on your device. The search box downloads a list of our articles and filters it in your browser.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
If you email us at [email protected], the message is forwarded to our inbox by Cloudflare Email Routing. We use your email address and message only to reply, and we don't add you to any mailing list.
Outside services some pages use
- Maps on location guides. The interactive map loads the Leaflet map library from cdnjs (run by Cloudflare) and map tiles from OpenStreetMap, only when you scroll to the map. Those services receive your IP address when your browser requests them. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
- Directions links open Google Maps. What happens there is covered by Google's privacy policy.
- Videos. A few guides include YouTube videos. YouTube may set cookies when a video loads or plays; see Google's privacy policy.
Store and affiliate links
Some links to stores are affiliate links (for example Amazon, or brands through networks such as AvantLink and Awin). When you click one, the store or network may set its own cookies so it can tell that you came from us and pay a commission if you buy. Those cookies are set on their sites under their privacy policies, not by us. Read more in our affiliate disclosure.
Embedding our tools
Other websites can embed our tools. The embedded tool works the same way: no cookies and no tracking from us.
Children
The site isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices and questions
Because we don't keep personal data beyond emails you send us, there's usually nothing to access or delete. If you've emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, or you have any question about privacy, email [email protected].
If we change how the site handles data (for example by adding analytics or a newsletter), we'll update this page and the date at the top.
